TUT 03 : The Art Of ChoosingTUT 03 : The Art Of Choosing by WTek79
Before going further about the "Art of Choosing", let's see how photography is actually a little particular kind of art.
When people sculpt, paint, craft, they usually spend quite some time on a little number of creations, each time building slowly and meticulously a new piece of art. In this regard, photography is quite the opposite. Usually, an active photographer takes hundreds (even thousands) shots every year. But each year, the artist might end up selecting only a few pictures to share and reveal to the world.
I am quite certain that this statement alone might already surprise some of you. Yeah, sure, an amateur photographer takes hundreds of shots because he's quite bad a this ! But an advanced photographer ?! He is so good he should only take a few pictures, each being great piece of art. Well, me too, I thought that when I started my photographic endeavor. Now I am quite sure and relieved that it is not the case, even great photographers take thou
TUT 02 : The Power Of Repetition (updated)Hello everybody !TUT 02 : The Power Of Repetition (updated) by WTek79
In this little article, I would like share with you a little gem that might be waiting unused, alone in the dark, at the the bottom of your photographic toolbox : The Power Of Repetition. It is a strong and powerful concept, but often forgotten. Becoming aware of that might help you building some even more interesting pictures, and also having great fun playing with that !
What is repetition ?
Well, very simple indeed, anything repeating itself in a picture does the job. It can be some "objects" (trees, people, buildings, etc). It could also be some purely abstract elements (points, lines, shapes, colors, textures, etc).
One of the greatest thing behind repeating patterns is rhythm, just like some kind of music playing in the middle of your pictures. And well, who does
Tut 01 : The Rule of Thirds, what's behind ?So here we are, my first little article about "photography" ! Sorry in advance for my bad English, hope you will be able to get throughTut 01 : The Rule of Thirds, what's behind ? by WTek79
To begin this adventure, I wanted to start up-front with a concept I am sure many of you have heard of : drum-roll... "The Rule of Thirds" !
It is certainly the most controversial and well known composition rule. Half of the world says :
Follow this rule ! it is the key to lovely pictures
The other half screams :
This is nonsense, there is no rule, be free and walk your own path !
So where is the truth ? who's right or wrong ? What should I do ?
I do not say that I have the answer, but at least I can share with you what I feel about that. And what I feel is that this rule is actually less of a rule and more of a particular case. Yep, you heard me right, this rule may actually be seen as a simple example of much larger concepts.
If you're not familiar with this rule, here is a little reminde
Sorry in advance for the randomness of submitted pictures. Not enough time to really dig in a specific style. Just trying to seize every little opportunity I have to take pictures and enjoy it as much as possible.|
Do not hesitate to leave comments, and always look at pictures full size for best details !
